Singapore students with their YWPS buddies
(22 May) Fairfield Methodist School (Primary) visited YWPS today, arriving at 7:45am. A team of 20 students and 6 teachers (including their Vice Principal Mrs Yap) came with a focus on performing arts experience, as these visiting students were selected for this Hong Kong tour through their involvement in Co-curricular Activities (CCA).

As the host, we paired up their students with our boys as buddies, all at P.5 level. These visiting students enjoyed a full day of authentic learning with YW boys according to our regular timetable. As for the visiting teachers, they got to observe a P.6 IT lesson and a P.5 Chinese lesson, had a one-on-one ambassador-led school tour, had a professional exchange session with Principal Chan and some other teachers, and enjoyed a scrumptious lunch prepared by our canteen!

In the afternoon (Lessons 9-10), the entire P.5 students went into the hall to listen to the beautiful medley performed by the 20 visiting students, followed by our P.5 musicians sharing on the stage. After school, the visiting students were split into three groups and joined our Visual Art workshop, a band training session, as well as a choir practice.

The special and fruitful day ended at 4pm when the Singapore group left our school with a whole day of YWPS's unique exposure.

We are glad to return the hospitality they have shown us when we visited with our students during our annual Singapore Study Tour (P.5-6). And we sincerely hope there will be more such opportunities  for mutual learning in the near future.

Thank you Fairfield Methodist School (Primary) students for visiting Ying Wa Primary School! It was a wonderful experience to have the students at our school for a day. I hope they can visit us again sometime, and I also wish that we can go to Singapore to find them in the future. And again, thank you for visiting our school!

I would really like to give my heartfelt thanks to the Singaporean students from Fairfield Methodist School (Primary) for visiting us. It has been such a pleasure to meet you all again since our last visit to your school back in January. I feel so honoured to have been a buddy of you and take you round the campus, have some nice conversations and a wonderfully interactive exchange with you, especially after the pen-pal exchange beforehand. These small processes of the exchange were so memorable, enjoyable and filled with joyful moments.
Also, I feel especially glad to have gave our performance as the HKMP Quartet and my short but expressive speech (the improvisation one) to you back on the stage that day. This was an undoubtedly marvellous exchange. Another heartfelt thanks, also, to our dear Principal Chan, Dr Lee, Ms Peggy and all the teachers involved😄 It was such a pleasant experience. I really do hope that you Fairsians (That’s how you call yourselves, just like how we call ourselves Ying Wa boys, right?) may visit us again and at the same time, we can visit you again for years to come, making this an even amazing exchange😄

I am so thankful and glad that the Singapore Methodist Students get to come here! I hope they enjoyed their experience in our lovely school. Even though my buddy was a bit shy, she was not only very nice, but she also did well during the performance. Without her percussion, it wouldn’t have been the same. Remember that everyone has their good aspects! I bet our boys were really interested too 😏😏. As a person from the Singapore Tour, their school is really nice too! I hope our school brotherhood will stay, we can continue the school visit every year, and most importantly, future batches of students next year will have an awesome time at each other’s schools🤩 🤩.

I think this experience is truly unforgettable to me.
It’s such a great honor for me to be the ambassador this time and show the teachers from Singapore Fairfield Methodist Primary School around our school, telling them about the use of the different rooms, just like the music room, the GS room…Unfortunately on that day, some students were taking lessons inside the visual arts room, so I couldn’t show my charcoal drawing to them. But still, I think this is still a nice memory to have before graduating from Ying Wa Primary School!

Dear Fairfield Primary School students, thank you for visiting our school! It was a pleasure to meet all of you. I enjoyed my time with my buddy Benjamin during the IT lesson. We built robots together! It was exciting to see how we could combine our ideas and creativity to make our robots move and perform tasks. Benjamin’s enthusiasm and teamwork made the experience even more enjoyable. I hope you all had as much fun as we did and learned something new. We look forward to seeing you again!

When I knew I would be the student ambassador and tour a Singapore teacher around my school, I was very excited. When I was touring the Singapore teacher around our school, I found out that I have a big photo on the LED wall. What a surprise! Also, as we had some time left after we brought the teachers to all of our special rooms, we went to 5B ,who were having their music lesson,to enjoy some music. Two students who played violin were very skillful so we gave them a very big round of applause. The next day, I got a delicate pen as we performed well where we were touring the teachers. The tour was very fun and fruitful. Thank you teachers for coming to our school for a tour. I hope the Singapore teachers will come and visit again.

This visit from our dearest friend--Fairfield Methodist Primary school was an unforgettable experience. Not only did we have lessons for a whole day, we also shared our cultures and improved our communicating skills with foreign guests either in English or in Mandarin. Although it was a pity that we Primary Six students can't exchange with the Singapore students, I was excited our class was chosen to be the class the Singapore teachers observed and it was a great time to share about how our mechanics lesson works and what is it about. I was lucky to be one this year. Also, I was honoured to be one of the six student ambassadors to tell them about different rooms and facilities. The teachers were friendly and I really enjoyed that hour. I would like to thank Dr. Lee and Principal Chan for giving me this opportunity.

(P.S. When the student ambassadors brought the teachers to see how we had our music exam, it was a coincidence that they picked my brother's class. I was so excited at that time because it was just a few numbers before my brother's
performance. 😆Unfortunately, we had to leave, and there was only one student before my brother's performance, what a pity!😣)

The experience with the Fairfield Methodist students was fantastic. We had a great time together having lessons and recess. In the math's and GS lessons, I had to translate the information for my buddy since they do not know Cantonese. They were also very kind and generous. Finally, I want to thank Dr Lee, vice principal of Fairfield Methodist Primary school and Principal Chan to arrange this special day for us.

The students were friendly and attentive to me talking to them. It was my performance at the music exam too! My class also taught them how to play Ying Wa style dodgeball. I could not believe my eyes or ears when our Ying Wa boys played the school song or when the Singapore students sang a Cantonese song!

Thank you Ying Wa students and teachers for your wonderful hospitality! I had an amazing time. The performances were mind blowing- spectacular! The students were proud and confident in their performance. I did not know that you take music so seriously! And the school food was great! I kept digging into my chicken wing (i usually do not like chicken wings) until I scraped the whole plate clean!

A heartfelt thank you to the school, especially Dr. Lee and Principal Chan, for the wonderful hospitality in hosting us! We felt genuinely welcomed by both the staff and students—it was such a warm and uplifting experience. A special shoutout to my student ambassador, Mark, who was an eloquent and thoughtful host. I truly enjoyed our conversations and his insightful sharing during the school tour.

The student performances were absolutely incredible—so full of talent and energy, they completely blew me away! I was also deeply impressed by the joy and motivation for learning of the students that I observed in the classrooms. The teachers demonstrated great skill in their teaching, and the strong rapport they had with their students was unmistakable.

What an inspiring school environment! 🌟👏

Dear Ying Wa Primary School,

Thank you so much for hosting us last week—it was such an eye-opening and memorable experience for both our students and myself.

I was especially impressed by my cheerful and confident P4 student ambassador, Moses. He was personable, spoke with such poise, and truly made me feel welcomed. It was lovely to hear that he's looking forward to visiting us in Singapore next year—we’ll be so happy to host him!

I was also very impressed by your band students. Their performance and discipline really stood out. It’s clear they’ve put in a lot of heart and hard work to get to that level of musical competency.

In fact, all the students we met were so confident, joyful, and well-spoken—a real testament to the positive culture at Ying Wa. Kudos to the dedicated staff and school leaders for nurturing such a vibrant learning environment.

And I must add—your students are so blessed to have such delicious canteen food! I honestly wouldn’t mind coming back just for another taste of those meals!

Thank you once again for your warm hospitality and for the wonderful learning exchange!

Thank you Singapore Fairfield Methodist School ( Primary ) for paying us a visit! It was truly an unforgettable experience to have classes with you all. My pen-pal, Sidney was incredibly kind and friendly, she even gave me a lovely bookmark as a gift! Sidney was also hardworking, even though she couldn’t read the Chinese articles, but she did not give up and asked me about the pronunciations of the difficult words.

Additionally, I am deeply honoured to be chosen to perform with my best teammates in Symphonic FIVE: Adrian, Ferris, Jake and Lewis - all talented musicians from the YWPS Symphony Orchestra. One of the most heartwarming moments of our performance was when the Ying Wa boys sang along as we played our school anthem, Home of Our Youth. Their voices filled the school hall with warmth.

Lastly, I would like to thank our Principal Chan, Dr. Lee, Ms Peggy, Eric Sir and the teachers and students from Singapore for making and joining this pleasant experience. I hope the Singapore students will visit us again, or we can travel to your school for another reunion! Thank you!
